If you’re on TikTok, then you’ve likely seen the Savannah Bananas. 🍌
While the content is hilarious, there’s so much marketing genius that goes on behind the scenes.
A couple months ago, I listened to Convince & Convert’s Social Pros podcast with Jesse Cole the owner of the Savannah Bananas.
In the episode, Jesse talked about how he has someone on his team walk through the process at each game. From purchasing the ticket to parking to buying a hot dog to watching the game.
He found that by doing this he could find the flaws in the systems that were in place.
This has stuck with me ever since I heard it.
While this scenario is for an in-person event, the same concept can be applied to all customer journeys—whether in person or online.
I now frequently find myself searching out the product or brand I’m working with both on social media and using search engines to see what the customer is seeing. I will then go through the entire process of going to purchase the item to see how things could be improved.
The Savannah Bananas might be goofy, but they’ve taught me about taking off my company slippers and lacing up the customer’s boots.
Also, if you want to listen to this insightful episode it’s episode #521 on the Social Pros podcast!
